It's hard to find the time and / or the motivation to go to the gym everyday. But this new study may just be a good reason to hit the gym. Published in the June edition of the Journal of Labor Research, it points out that workers who exercise regularly earn 9% higher salaries than the colleagues that don't.
While correlation doesn't equal causation, the study aims to get to the bottom of it. The
full study is available online, and researchers used a technique called propensity score matching to determine whether the employees who earned more were people who always led healthy lives and were good at their jobs anyway, of if they made a point to exercise more on a regular basis instead.
Researchers discovered that people who had no history of healthy behavior did better at work and were in turn rewarded by their employers for it when they started working out regularly.
So, does this want to make you workout so you can bring a bigger fatter paycheck home? On top of that, exercising regularly improves your mood, self esteem and health. So its no surprise it'll help you around the office too. What do you think? Makes sense?
