“Feeling” like you need to start exercising isn’t quite the same as “thinking and taking action.” It takes just 5 seconds for a thought to leave you, so if you’re sitting on the couch and thinking “I should get up and go exercise,” and don’t act within that 5 seconds, it’s gone and you're still stuck on that couch.

Now's the time to take action, and here’s what you need to do in order take this to the next level.
Decide WHY you want to make change.
What is the outcome you’re going after? And no, a general answer like “getting healthy” is NOT a good reason because that definition is different for everyone. While that outcome that will result from changing behaviours, you still need to specify a REAL reason in order to take action.

Decide what YOU personally want in order to make the change.

What this means is that it needs to be about YOU and what’s in it for you.  Not your spouse, kids, girlfriend, boyfriend or whoever else.

Be VERY SPECIFIC.

If your reason is that you want your clothes to fit better, try being a little more specific. Do you want to drop a pants size?  Two pants sizes? Now at least you have a goal to aim for.

What BEHAVIOURS are necessary to achieve this outcome?
A goal that’s focused on the behaviors to achieve the desired outcome is the one that will get you the results you want. By focusing on the behaviours and not just the outcome, you’re more likely to achieve permanent success. Even if your action is not perfect, it's exactly what’s needed to get you moving in the right direction.
