Thanks to modern makeup manufacturing techniques, you can now get almost every color of the rainbow. But for the basics you'll need these three basic hues to help color-correct virtually any makeup look. Just be sure to do this is a brightly colored room, or you may end up with more color on your face than you bargained for:
RED
Red is quite a drastic color on its own, but mix it with a pigment like sapphire and you'll get a brilliant violet! You can also use it to neutralize an olive skin tone by blending just a tiny dab of red or pink pigment into your base.
BLUE
Applying a little bluish glaze can enhance the pink undertones on your lips, which in turns makes your teeth seem whiter. The same principle works with eye makeup. You can cool down any shade of yellow eye shadow (like khaki and olive) just by adding a light overlay of blue pigment. And to reduce strong yellow undertones in the skin, try applying some blue-tinged face primer. Just don't apply too much or you might end up looking ill!
YELLOW
Foundation that's too pink makes you look more flustered than flushed. A primary yellow will fix this and add warmth to your skin tone. You can also use a little to color-correct any makeup that’s too blue or red. Blend a dab of yellow pigment into your foundation, or mix a bit with your lipstick.
